Our Story
The CNGOs in Zambia is a statutory body under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, established under the NGOs Act No. 16 of 2009. The Act establishes a Zambia Congress of Non-Governmental Organizations which shall be a collective forum of all organizations registered under the Act. The Congress elects a twelve-member Council which is responsible for the management of the affairs of the Congress. The first CNGOs was elected in December 2012 at the first ever held Zambia Congress of NGOs using thematic areas. No secondment of any NGO to the NGO Registration Board due to the Contention on the NGO Act No 16, 2009. The second Zambia Congress of NGOs held in Oct, 2018 which elected the 2 set of Council members using provinces.
Mission statement: CNGOs is a statutory body established under the NGOs Act No. 16 of 2009 that is committed to facilitate and coordinate the effective operation and engagement of the NGOs through ensuring compliance with the code of conduct, standards, guidelines, and safeguarding the civic space in Zambia
